THE ABBEYFIELD KENT SOCIETY (The Society) is
the major provider of residential care to older people in Kent.
The Society provides:
- Care for older people
- Care for older people with dementia
- Care for younger people (between 40 and 65)
with dementia
- Care for people with Parkinson's
The Society is part of a national network of Abbeyfield
Societies. The Abbeyfield movement was founded as an expression of Christian
concern for older people, a co-operative effort by people of faith and
goodwill and is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity.
The Society's prime purpose is to provide older
people with a home within the security and companionship of a convivial
household.
- Residents have rooms of their own, furnish them
as they wish
- The privacy of each resident’s room is
respected, but visits from relations, friends and neighbours are encouraged
- In our Sheltered homes members of the Resident
Support Group believe that older people have an important role to play
amongst their families, friends and community, that many suffer from
loneliness and insecurity and that within the community the individual
has an essential part to play in helping older people in special need
- Local clergy and ministers are made aware
of the house and given the opportunity to visit as in an ordinary home.
Any arrangements for services or prayers within the house are made in
accordance with the wishes of the residents
