About Us

The Society is a member of Abbeyfield, a national network of societies. The Abbeyfield movement was founded on Christian beliefs to provide care and companionship to older people.

The Society still works to these values and embraces everyone, irrespective of belief. To read more about the history of the Society click here.

Established in 1967 The Abbeyfield Kent Society is a major provider of residential, supported and extra care across Kent with a property portfolio of 16 homes across the county. A registered charity, the Society provides care to over 450 older people in nine residential homes, six housing with support schemes and one extra care scheme. As well as providing services for older frail, it provides specialist care for dementia and Parkinson’s and some of the homes have day centres for members of the community.

One of the largest employers in Kent the Society has a committed workforce of over 550 staff and receives invaluable support from over 200 volunteers.
