Spirit of Abbeyfield Award
In 2011, Abbeyfield Kent introduced the Spirit Of Abbeyfield Award to recognise members of the Abbeyfield Kent community who go the extra mile in their commitment to caring for older people.
The Spirit of Abbeyfield can be defined as:
"The manifestation of the commitment to the Society which is significantly and clearly greater than could be reasonable expected in the course of one's duty or normal contact with the organisation."
The inaugural Spirit of Abbeyfield Award was presented to Maggie Town, a carer at Greensted, our residential home in Wateringbury. Maggie was nominated by her colleagues for her exceptional dedication to the older people in her care at Greensted, and was accompanied by two of her residents to collect her trophy at the Spirit of Abbeyfield Ceremony in 2011. Nominations are now open for the 2012 Spirit of Abbeyfield Award. Anybody can be nominated and anybody can nominate; we welcome nominations for and from residents, staff, family members and visitors.
Email your nominations to media@abbeyfieldkent.org giving us details of your nominee and stating why they embody the Spirit of Abbeyfield. Alternatively, speak to a member of staff at any of our homes.
